Software For Beat Making - Which One is Best For You?

Digital music is an incredible way to express your creativity and many more people are beginning to do so using software for beat making. Making beats is something that I started as a hobby 3 years ago and the things you can do are amazing. Contrary to popular belief, you don't need very much at all to get started making beats, just software and a computer. Long gone are the days where a $100k studio was required, and good riddance.
When it comes to software for beat making, programs like FL Studio, Reason, Cubase, and Logic are among the most popular. However, these programs are more geared towards people who have music experience and already have an understanding of audio. This means that all beginners will have a steep learning curve that will take months, or even a couple of years to master.
If you're looking to really have complete control over your music, and you have the determination, time, and money to invest, stick to the programs I stated above. These are all some of the most expensive programs that money can buy, but they are extremely powerful if you know how to use them.
Some people on the other hand, are beginners and want to make beats without breaking their pockets. For these people, I recommend getting a free trial or demo of some beat making software and testing the waters before spending $500+ on one of the more powerful programs. One of the most popular demos is a program called FL Studio. This is a decent beat making program for beginners since it's free and has a lot of features. But for some, FL Studio is too technical and has too steep of a learning curve.
Another option, and my own personal recommendation is to make beats online. There are a few different websites that allow you to make your own beats and make instrumentals. My personal favorite is a program called Sonic Producer. It's fairly new, but it has been gaining lots of buzz lately with hip-hop and techno beat makers. This program almost eliminates the learning curve of other programs and make it extremely easy to make beats fast.
As I've described, it doesn't take much to get started making beats. You really just need a computer and software for beat making.
If you're looking to get started with my personal recommendation, Sonic Producer, I've included a link to a video using the official Sonic Producer music maker software. Also, be sure to check out my blog, Beat Making Software, for more information about home recording software.
