How to Make Beats on Your PC - The Simple Step By Step Process To Make Nice Beats

There are countless people out there that want to know how to make beats on their PC. The idea of expressing yourself musically by making beats on the PC is very appealing.
The first thing you must do to create beats on your computer is to download and install a good beat making program. There are a good amount of programs out there you can make use of such as FL Studios, Reason, Sonic Producer, and Acid Pro.
If you have some money to spend and you have some experience making music you could get a program like Fl Studio which runs about $200. Sonic producer is much cheaper at around $30 and it's the simplest program for beginners to learn how to use.
Now go out and invest in a MIDI keyboard controller and attach it to your PC. A MIDI controller is a keyboard that can be used to control all of the different sounds and instruments used by the software.
When you open the program the first thing you need to do is set the tempo and measures for your beat. If it's rap beats you're interested in producing you should use a 4/4 measure. A good tempo would be around 90 to 95 BPM.
You can make beats on your PC if you don't have any sounds so load up some bass drum and snare drum sounds into the program to make a drum pattern. Make sure you put a bass drum hit on the first beat of each measure using the snare hitting on the 4th beat.
Now make a bass line and a melody for the beat you're making. Load various styles of instruments and utilize the MIDI controller to record melodies, choruses, chords and bass lines to your beat.
Finally you have to arrange your beat. The best thing for you to do is to experiment with taking some instruments out and changing drum patterns up with slight variations. And when you are happy with the way your beat sounds you can save your song as an MP3 file.
If you follow these tips you can start making beats on PC right away. Just make sure you find a good program that is easy to use.

Exclusive Versus Non-Exclusive Tracks

When buying or selling beats many artists are trying to make the choice between exclusive and non-exclusive beats. There is a huge difference in the two.
Non-exclusive beat means that you are leasing use of the track. This means that others may also be leasing use for that same track. This is why it's called non-exclusive. Why would anyone use a non-exclusive beat? Because they are cheap, usually a non-exclusive beat will sell for about $20 to $100. They are usually targeted to underground or up and coming artist who does not have a lot of money to spend. It is a quick and easy way to get a beat for your project. Buyer beware there are usually some constraints on the number of copies you can sell with no exclusive beats. Some allow 2000 and others may allow up to 20,000, it depends on the producers. Non-exclusive tracks can be used for other projects such as film, TV commercials, video games and many other uses.
Exclusive tracks means that you are the only one to use the beat. This does not mean that you are buying the copyright to the beat. For example, there could be a time limit on how long you could use the beat exclusively. The producer may resell the beat in one or two years. It is important to look at the website or company policy when buying an exclusive beat. The copyright owner can change the tempo, the drum track or something very minor about the beat and call it a different beat. This means that producer can sell the beat again. Exclusive beats can cost anywhere from $200, to $200,000 depending on how established the producer is. Usually only more established artist will buy exclusive tracks because they have already made some money.
Which one is better? For a producer it is more profitable in the long run to sell non-exclusive beats. The producer can make a good living off of a catalog of 50 to 100 beats with this method. For the rapper or singer exclusive instrumental are better if you have the money. If you don't a non-exclusive instrumental is OK. Remember you can alter the form of the beat if you have the skill. Either way the online producer has help lower the bar for many aspiring rappers and singers. Online beat buying is a win/win for both artist and producer.

Licensing Instrumental Rap Beats Online

Before you license any instrumental rap beats, there are a few key things you should understand.
First off, you should know the difference between exclusive rights and non-exclusive rights:
Exclusive Rights: When you purchase exclusive rights to an instrumental rap beat, you typically obtain 100% ownership of the beat. This basically means that the beat becomes your property, and you can do with it whatever you want. The producer loses his/her right to further sell the beat exclusively or non-exclusively to anybody else.
Be aware that some exclusive rights contracts do not allow for the re-selling of the purchased instrumental rap beat. In this case, you would not be able to purchase exclusive rights to a beat and sell it to somebody else. Most producers will also make you give them written or verbal credit for producing the beat. This is usually done on a CD cover insert or as a verbal "shout-out" in the song.
Exclusive rights pricing can be expensive depending on the beat and the producer. Typical prices for exclusive rights for instrumental rap beats online range from $100 to $3000 and beyond.
Non-Exclusive Rights: Purchasing non-exclusive rights to an instrumental rap beat is also known as "leasing" the beat. Leasing a beat grants the buyer with limited distribution and time constraints. For example, a producer may allow for his/her non-exclusive license to allow for 3,000 profitable distributions of the beat. This means that you can record your vocals on the beat, put the finished song on a CD or DVD, and make up to 3,000 copies of the CD or DVD to distribute for profitable or non-profitable use. The number of maximum distributions depends on the producer.
Some producer's will also place time constraints on their non-exclusive licenses. For example, you may only have a year from the day of purchase to distribute your song before the lease expires.
When you buy non-exclusive rights to a beat, the producer can still continue to lease or exclusively sell the instrumental rap beat. If the producer should happen to sell exclusive rights to the beat while you are leasing it, you still keep your leasing rights until the contract expires or you reach your distributional limit.
Prices for non-exclusive beats are typically anywhere between $10 and $50. Again, pricing depends on the producer and the quality of his or her work.
I hope you understand licensing instrumental rap beats more thoroughly now. It is not difficult to understand once you grasp the information. Once you get familiar with it, you will no longer be intimidated by it!
Now that you understand the basics of licensing instrumental rap beats online, you should feel a lot more comfortable when you download rap beats on the internet!

Tips for Becoming a Big Time Hip Hop Producer

There are thousands of producers out there who dream of living in the shoes of Timberland, DJ Premier or Kanye West. We need to remember that they didn't start off where they are now, but through hard work and determination they prevailed. These are just some simple tips to keep in mind as you move forward with your production and obtaining placements. As you begin to establish a name for yourself and build a clientele, customers will remember their experience working with you, and this can either make you or break you.
Tip#1: Always Remain humble. I repeat 'Remain Humble". No matter how good your beats and production is if you don't have the right attitude a lot of opportunities may fall through. A little kindness can go a long way in this business. We have to remember as the sales start going up and the fan base is growing not to let it all go your head. Always be polite to potential customers and do not judge them. You never know they could be the next Eminem or Jay-Z. You should be open and willing to work with anyone, as long as they show a passion for music and practice professional work ethics.
Tip#2: Try to show variety in your production. It's OK to have your "specialty". Mine is old school underground hip hop, but I also produce in the genres: R&B, Dirty South, New School and East Coast. You want to have something to offer to everyone. You never know who will come across your work. This will increase your sales and projects that you will be involved in. This will also help in keeping your production catalogue from sounding redundant. Other producers and artist will also respect you more for stepping out of your element and producing different styles.
Tip#3: Give back to the Community. I mean Give people some free beats. This never hurts. You never know who might hear your beat playing on someones iPod or mix-tape. Get your music out there. Giving away free beats for someone joining your mailing list is a valuable and awesome technique to build your customer base and also get your music out there. This is better then just having your music sitting on your computer, not being heard. If you produce as much as I do then you have hundreds of beats if not thousands just laying around. Give some out for free and save your prize work for the sales.
Tip#4: Network, Network, Network. With today's technology we have the ability to reach a wide range of potential customers. This technology is called the "Internet". Using sites such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and YouTube are free ways to reach your audience. I have found many rap artist to work with just on Twitter alone. One being Mista Cane, who has worked with The Game, and Savage-C. Dont underestimate Facebook either. Also be sure to link all your social accounts so all your tweets show on Facebook and MySpace and vice versa. Save all your emails from past customers and create an email list so you may keep in touch with your customers and keep them informed of new material.
Tip#5: Don't set your prices too high, not now while you are still building a name for yourself. Selling an exclusive beat for $500.00 is high end. And definitely try to stay under $50.00 for beat leases. Remember you are just starting out and you need to start small and build a reputation. The $$ will come later, just keeping doing what you're doing and make quality music at affordable prices and you should be well off. Eventually you will be able to increase your pricing as the demand for them will go up.
Hopefully you have found these tips useful and will bring you one step closer in getting your music heard and your name out there. We all have to start at the bottom, just keep climbing and don't give up.

Tips On How To Become A Professional Music Producer

With the internet came the ease to create music and the affordability of the necessary equipment to create that music. Today there are millions of tracks on the internet on places like iTunes, MySpace and now Facebook. Sadly the quality of these releases has dropped terribly. However, this is good news for good producers!
So how do I become a professional producer?
  1. Get yourself a mentor. So many people are trying to make music by trial and error. This takes too long and can cost you a lot of money, not to mention it's a guaranteed waste of effort. No one would like a mechanic to practice car repair with their new BMW (I prefer a Range Rover personally). No, we definitely would like to know that the person or garage responsible for repairing our car has been well taught. To be honest, there is no difference in the music business. Successful producers are those who have learned their craft from others! In the process of being taught you become better and quicker. Put your ego aside and realize that you do not know everything. The good news is that older, much more established producers are always willing to teach the next generation if they care to listen!

  2. Work with credible artists. One of the ways to become a professional producer is to work with singers and other musicians who are very talented and desire to make it in the industry. Many producers actually start by releasing products that become very successful and then other artists will ask them to replicate that success for them. You could actually start off by signing an artist and producing them and then, off the back of this success, begin to work for other artists/labels. One of the mistakes people make is to start out working with mediocre artists who will, in the long run, do nothing for their career. Perhaps if you have a studio, create an alias you can use and then a different name for your production; in this way your production name will be reserved for credible name recordings.

  3. Listen to what is current. Many people believe their production is the best music ever heard but they forget that people had been listening to music before they began to produce. If you are not listening to what is current your work may have no place on radio. Since radio is still, and I believe will remain, an integral part of the music business then we must produce music that fits well with what played. Working in isolation and trying to develop a good or new sound is a great idea, but it is equally important to ensure that the music you make has a place within the industry for which it is made. Professional producers are always current because one of their secrets is to listen to what played and improve on it.

Become a Big Name Rap Producer With Beat Software

As far as things go beat software is a brand new development. It wasn't long ago that artists had to have a recording studio with many musicians who specialized in their own instrument to put together songs. As you may imagine this was a very expensive and complicated ordeal. Because of this, many otherwise talented producers could not become active in the music industry because they did not the means to do so. Now, music composing software makes it so all you need to get to the top is the desire to do so.
Beat software for the most part is very easy to use. It is very efficient, and tracks can be produced relatively quickly. It is like having a complete professional recording studio right on your computer. You can edit, add sounds, bass lines, hi hats, and everything you want in you track with only a mouse and keyboard.
Before you download beat software you need to make sure that the software you have chosen produces high quality tracks. The sequencer should be loaded with sounds and instrumentation that was recorded using real instruments in a real recording studio. Digitally produced sounds are not adequate for making professional tracks. Also, make sure they produce broadcast quality sound files. Cheap MP3 sound files will not do your music justice.
Reproducing deep tracks digitally has become the latest rage. Taking an oldies song and pumping it up and incorporating it into an urban beat is very popular. If you turn on the radio you will hear many songs in which artists have used this technique. The best way to get started is to listen to some of your favorite music a note what it is about the song that you like. You can then incorporate those styles and sounds into your music.
Another great asset of beat software is that you can distribute your music very easily. Instead of going through a long drawn-out recording process in the studio which you then have to transfer to CD or some sort of file that you can upload into a computer your beats are already on the computer. You can burn them to CD or distribute them through the internet immediately after finishing a track.
Beat software is the way of the future. It evens the playing field and gives everybody a shot at becoming a hit music producer. If you have a passion and desire to create hit music you can do it!
Don't put it off any longer, download beat software and start recording today!

Become a Successful Rap Music Producer in 5 Steps

My first contact with rap music was in 1988 when I received a tape with Eric B. and Rakim - the album Follow the Leader. And if I remember correctly it was another collection of break dance tunes back in 1985 which caught my attention. From that moment, many things evolved.
Part of my activity is entertainment related, especially with gaming, clubbing music and hip hop. Fortunately, now, there are extremely many resources for getting started in becoming a music producer, and if you have this dream, pursue with it, don't leave it away:
* Now we have internet where you can search for finding almost any tune, video you can think of;
* There are also game like DJ Hero, Guitar Hero and others where you can start practicing and gaming in the same time. Many successes in entertainment business begun in a joke so it is OK;
* There are available hundreds of e-books - free and paid where you can find useful information about becoming a successful music producer;
Due to these resources and many others it is easier than before for anybody to get started. For becoming a successful rap music producer I recommend 5 steps:
1. I don't think that you can become successful without knowing very well this music so study its roots, listen the most interesting albums released and also study the actual trends;
2. Invest in the minimum resources: a PC, keyboard, music software, a set of turntables - there are many electronic scratch resources but I recommend the vinyl classic turntables;
3. Search for new ideas. The competition is tough and you will be most likely to succeed if you will bring something new in the market;
4. Find other persons which share the same passions and desires like you and create together beats, songs, develop ideas. Most of the times, two or three minds together produce extraordinary breakthroughs. Find them between your friends, forums and social networking.
5. Use at the beginner instrumental rap beats which can be found on the internet in collections as the pictures can be found in clip art. You will be able to modify them in the future but at least you will have a solid place to start.
And the most important, create your mindset for success, don't think at the failure at all and you will succeed.
Even the biggest producers use instrumental rap beats [http://www.rapbeatsstudio.info] found on the internet besides the ones created by themselves. Get started now and become the rap music producer [http://www.rapbeatsstudio.info] you want to be!

Professional Beat Making Equipment Can Make You Money

Have you been looking to purchase your own beat making equipment for a while now? Our recommendation to you is not to rush this choice and make a well informed decision regarding this. We would also suggest you stay away from so called free on-line beat making programs. Sure they are fun to play with and use but would you seriously consider yourself an experienced professional because of it? They don't provide the needed studio quality output and for the most part they allow you to create one bar of music or samples. The reason that the desktop beat making machine has been growing in popularity is because the right ones come feature filled. In most cases you can get a lot of the same functionality you would have paid almost $50k for. This means you can get started right away. In this business you eat what you catch and by putting in the needed time with the right professional tool you will eat a lot! So let's find out...
What Your Beat Making Software Should Have
If we can be real with ourselves then we understand that choosing beat maker software is usually a choice that is made from a lack of capital. Whether that is your situation or not doesn't mean that the software doesn't exceed expectations. You get most of the same functionality you would fully expect to get from getting professional studio time. You will also find that a lot of the same skills you will gain from mastering the software will help you in the studio too. Why wait to get your beat making career started until you have the needed studio money when you can get going today and start perfecting the art?
Your beats software should have the following:
1) Usable For Multiple Levels Of Experience. The beats software you choose should be simple enough so that a rank amateur can be up and running without spending hours looking at a screen. At the same time a seasoned expert should not feel it doesn't have the necessary functions for them to create what they want to create. Keep in mind that the software's only goal is to help you realize your beat ideas.
2) Expandable Collection Of Presets. The beats software you choose should come with a collection of professional presets that can be used and modified immediately. This can allow you to initially get your feet wet with the software and allow you to gain needed confidence in your growing abilities. Of course you should be able to add presets later as you see fit.
3) Ease Of Learning. Your chosen beats software should come with a form of video instruction. This is very important because it allows you to practically follow a professional user though the paces.
This brief look at criteria for choosing beat making equipment came with a few things to look for. These included being usable for multiple levels of experience, expandable collection of presets and ease of learning. By using this information before making a decision you will find your decision to be more fulfilling both short and long term.

Orchestra Hip Hop Production

The Truth
There are numerous genres in the hip hop beat production industry. However, the orchestra hip hop genre gets no glory, no shine, absolutely no recognition. Even searching for the term in search engines will render results with more to be desired. This genre derives from classical orchestra music; it requires one to be familiar with composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach. However, these genres as well as its contributors aren't very popular in the hip hop community. The truth of the matter is that this particular genre isn't very popular because it requires a higher understanding of music on the producer's behalf and a higher level of talent on the artist's behalf.
Preparing Yourself
As previously stated, orchestra hip hop beat production derives from classical orchestra. The major contributors to classical music composed complex symphonies that have survived for centuries. The keywords here are "complex symphonies", so in order to reproduce it; one must expand the complexities of their mind to see the world as Johannes Brahms saw it. A basic understanding of the musical staffs would be a great start. Understanding the musical staffs from bass clef to treble clef will be the introduction to understanding the musical scales. Understanding the musical scales will be the introduction to understanding chords and chord progressions. This is the foundation for creating complex orchestrations.
Instrumentation
Instrumentation is key in the production of this genre. You'll have to integrate what made classical music unique with what makes hip hop music unique. Let me explain; classical orchestra is primarily known for its strings, brass and the undeniable enhancement of every sound due to the acoustics of the venue. Hip Hop music is primarily known for its drums and synths. Beat production programs makes that part easy by providing thousands of drum kits but the orchestra part will require a little bit of manipulation and pruning.
To duplicate the orchestra part of this genre in a beat production program one might have to invest a little bit of money. Orchestra plugins are always offered to every music production program on the face of the earth. After collecting sounds like solo violins, legato strings, pizzicato strings etc you'll be ready to manipulate them to sound like an authentic classical orchestra. Reverb is the best effect to give your strings and brass to give it that classical feel. You can also layer other effects on them and experiment but it won't be authentic without reverb.
Start Producing
Now that you have the instrumentation, you can add it on top of some urban drum patterns and you'll have an orchestra hip hop beat. To learn more about composing and beat productions feel free to visit Orchestra Hip Hop Beat Production.

How to Make Beats - 9 Hot Tips and Tricks to Get Your Beats Rocking

1. Keep Your Raw Beat - Raw
When designing a beat, there are several factors that you have to consider during the creation phase. First and foremost, you will want to keep the basic beat prominent in the mix. Keep it dry, compressed and with few effects. This leaves room for creative additions and subtle details that can weave in and around the main drum track.
2. Spice Up The Track
Use reverb and delay to add distance within the track. This technique will keep whatever new elements you add from interfering with the main drum track. Next, choose interesting spaces in the drum track to add various percussion sounds, like water splashes, or breaking glass. This is what's known as 'spicing up the track'.
3. Represent Yourself
Each new track that you create should be an extension of your producer personality. Over time, you will start to develop a 'signature sound'. This comes from experimenting with different elements in your tracks and discovering which effects you like the most, and subtly applying them to each track you design.
4. Always Keep 'Em Clean
Remember to keep your productions free of clutter, and only use change-ups and breakdowns that add value and power to your drum track. A good measuring stick for your track is to spit a few lines over it. If you can't flow with your track then you will need to redesign it.
5. Find That Flow
Ultimately, your track has little or no value if it cannot be spit upon, unless you are simply trying to create an instrumental-only track. The focal point of each track should be to create an energy. A vibe that an MC will want to groove with.
6. Don't Get Crazy With The Effects
Proper use of effects will enhance the energy of your track. Overuse of effects can dampen that energy, causing your track to be 'un-flowable'. So, try to keep your drum track as clean as possible. The key is to find that middle ground of adding sounds and effects but not too much.
7. You Gotta Keep It Separated
To truly become a drum guru, remember to separate all your drums at the beginning, with each drum part having its own dedicated channel in the mix. So, at any moment during production, you can apply effects to any individual drum track that you deem it necessary.
8. Less Is More
Another thing to remember is that sometimes less is more. The simplest beats can oftentimes be the dopest beats. There is nothing that an MC hates to see more than approaching a track, trying to apply his flow, and finding that the mix is just too busy. Calm it down a bit. But keep your track evolving - which will keep your listeners guessing.
9. Try Playing With The Tempo
Yet another concept to keep in mind is tempo. Sometimes, when you have the perfect new drum track, but something just isn't quite right about it, try slowing it down a few notches. Play it back at the slower tempo and see if that doesn't move the crowd for ya. Or, try speeding it up some.
...And To Sum It All Up
Sometimes, that will be all you need to perfect your track. Once you have tweaked it to the point that you feel your head bobbing uncontrollably, you are ready to release your new masterpiece into the universe. Any true MC will feel compelled to spit his or her finest delivery along with your beat and that is exactly what you want to occur whenever you press play.

How to Make Hip Hop Beats - Introduction

Welcome to my introduction on how to make Hip Hop Beats. As you may already know there are a few different approaches on how to make a beat. Some people will start by finding a sample or loop from an already existing record production. This is called sampling where you take a short section, record it and loop it over and over. This will quite often be the basic element for the new Hip Hop Beat. Of course you will have to add additional elements to the hip hop beat in order to make it unique. This can be done by adding another sample from an existing production. By putting samples on top of each other, you can create a new beat quite easily. The trick is to make it sound great of course.
Another common approach is to use just one sample from an existing production and then record original new music to the old loop. The advantage of this approach, is that you got more options and more control with regards to adding musical elements to the old material. It is easier to simply play new elements in the right key and tempo of the old sample than trying to find other existing samples that matches the first sample in key and tempo. The disadvantage is that you need to be able to play an instrument somewhat or know someone who can play an instrument. Also you would need some type of recording software and audio interfaces.
The last option is NOT to use an existing sample, and simply record everything from scratch. If you play keyboards and can program a sequencer this is in many ways the best option. First of all you got the most options on how the Hip Hop Beat is turning out because there is nothing you need to match. Second of all, and very importantly, you do not have to "clear" the use of an existing sample. By that I mean, if you are using existing samples to make your beats, you will have to ask permission from the copyright owners of the original piece if you want to release the new song in public. Typically it will involve some form of cost to clear the sample. If you ignore that process, you might end up in a major and very expensive lawsuit if your new song is a success. Please understand that this is not legal advice. I am not a lawyer and you should consult a music attorney if you plan to release a Hip Hop Beat that contains an existing production/sample. One downside by not using a sample is that for certain types of Hip Hop it can be hard to make it sound right. Using old samples gives some grit or toughness that can be hard to emulate with modern recording equipment..
Have fun making beats.

Beat Producer Software Can Change Your Life - Find Out How!

Are you looking for some inexpensive, easy to use beat producer software? If that's the case, you have come across the right article. I will tell you how music evolved so much where it is now possible to create music using just a computer and a simple software program.
Back in the day when I was first starting performing as an artist, I used to go to a producer's studio all the time to listen to beats and record. He had everything you could imagine. The whole studio costs over $30,000 worth of equipment. He always had the latest MPCs, Motif keyboards, guitars, and even drum sets. He knew how to play all of those equipment, so it never crossed my mind that in a few years down the road, you will not need all of these tools in order to create good, quality music.
It got to the point where I got tired and frustrated with dealing with producers and their antics. I had to pay for everything, and I wanted a producer to make the type of music and sounds that I wanted to hear. Not his style. After working with over dozens of producers (including major producers), I decided to maybe see if I could create my own beats.
I hired a producer and he agreed to start giving me lessons with his studio equipment. I got started using an MPC. It looked easy enough, but for some reason, I just couldn't grab the concept, so I just thought producing music was not for me. However, after researching online I then discovered that you could create beats with beat producer software and not have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on studio equipment to make hot tracks.
I simply downloaded a software program onto my laptop and literally in minutes, I was able to start making my own beats. I couldn't believe my ears! The software came with video tutorials so I basically just followed along with the creator. It has a friendly interface, thousands of sounds already pre-installed, and you even have an option to add your own accessories such as a drum machine, keyboards, etc so you can transfer your own sounds onto the program.
Today, I retired performing. I'm now a producer that makes money off of people buying my beats! I cater to my artists and no one controls me. I do what I want to do and make money off of it. It doesn't get any easier than this.
Whoever created beat producer software deserves a trophy. I don't know where I would be at today if I didn't have this avenue to explore. I encourage artists and producers to try beat making software. My software cost me less than $30 bucks and the beats I make sounds like they're were created from the Hit Factory.

Beats - Secret to Making Today's Hit Music

What are Beats?
Beats in hip hop music is slang for music production and is defined as the entire instrumental, non-vocal part of a song. Beats are basically instrumental music compositions used for rhyming too or recording rap vocals over to make a demo song and in many cases hit music as heard on the radio today.
How can I use Beats for my music project?
Nowadays even singers and songwriters are buying beats online to download and record their vocals over to make a demo cd or hit music. With the proliferation of downloadable music, beats can now be previewed (listened to) online, purchased and downloaded from a host of beat stores. Though predominately hip hop, beats can be found online in a variety of flavors. You can buy professional quality instrumental beats online in just about any genre that suits your style, lyrics and vocal range. Beats are sought by a wide audience of independent artists, rappers, singers, songwriters, pod casters, gaming companies, and filmmakers just to name a few.
A Cheap way to Take your Music to the Next Level!
Traditionally, producing a song with a music producer in your local music studio could cost at a minimum $500 for just one track (beat), and many have experienced times when they were unsatisfied with the results. With beats offered online you can minimize the risk of not getting a track that suits your style. How? You can preview the beat over and over again and sing or rap along to the beat with you lyrics to see how it flows before you buy it. If you don't like a selection simply continue browsing and previewing beats until you find the one that suits you. Beats found online come from a wide variety of music producers worldwide and are diverse and surprisingly cheap.
Many independent artists are raving over the fact that they were able take their music and their career to the next level by improving the quality of their songs with inexpensive pro quality music production found online. Even with a tight budget artists, singer, rapper or songwriter could find several beats that complement their vocal style and delivery for as little as $40 each!
Beware before your buy. Understand your purchasing (licensing) options.
Non-Exclusive Licensing: You can buy (license) and download beats online from as low as $39.95 each and up to $500 or more. Typically beats in this price range would be non-exclusive and royalty free. In general terms this means that the copyright of the beat remains the property of the creator (Licensor) and is not transferred to you the buyer (Licensee). It also means that the creator can sell it (license it) to an unlimited amount of buyers. Though the terms of a non-exclusive license vary it typically gives you the licensee the right to synchronize your vocals with (record your vocals onto) the music track to make a demo song or in many cases to make a song that can be sold individually or on your album or used for commercial purposes. In this case the buyer (licensee) is not responsible for paying the music producer/creator (licensor) royalties. The nature of non-exclusive licenses vary from site to site and from producer to producer so be sure to verify that you can use the beat for your intended purpose before licensing it.
Exclusive Licensing: You can also buy (license) and download exclusive beats online. Typically these beats are much more expensive than non-exclusive beats and can range anywhere from $300 to $5,000 or more online.
Though exclusive licenses vary from site to site and producer to producer the creator (Licensor) transfers copyright ownership of the beat to the buyer (Licensee) upon purchase. The beat (complete musical composition) becomes the property of the buyer, thus the concept of exclusivity. When considering purchasing an exclusive license for a beat be sure to make sure that copyright ownership is transferred to your name and registered with the Library of Congress located here: http://www.copyright.gov/

Hip Hop Beats - From Then to Now

How do hip hop producers make beats using old samples and new software? Through the history of hip hop, legendary producers like Dr. Dre, Grandmaster Flash, and Kanye West have defined their eras through innovative combinations of sampling and technology. How have these producers changed the face of music though their innovative beats?
When it all began in New York in the 1970s, producers made beats the old fashioned way: by using vinyl records. Instrumental "breaks" from funk, soul and pop records were looped over and over again to create long instrumental beats that were the key attraction of block parties and local clubs. DJs who were skilled at isolating these breakbeats and making new hip hop beats became famous throughout the streets of New York.
When hip hop began to be released commercially in the late 1970s and early 1980s, new developments continued to occur. Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons founded Def Jam records and dominated the rap scene of the 80s, producing hip hop beats for acts like the Beastie Boys and LL Cool J. Other New York acts like Run DMC also introduced some of the hottest beats to the public. Rock beats were a staple of the 1980s scene, as in classic beats like "Walk this Way" and "Fight for your Right to Party."
As the 1980s came to a close, however, the West Coast began rising as a rival to New York. The Gangsta rap phenomenon had been building for some time, but it was Dr. Dre who established LA as the cutting edge center of hip hop with his "G-Funk" sound, which retooled beats from the 1970s "P-Funk" groups like Parliament/Funkadelic. G-Funk stars like Snoop Dogg and Warren G released beats that updated 70s funk with a 90s sound.
While G-Funk was defining the mainstream for a generation, the alternative scene continued to play with obscure music from old and eclectic sources. The "crate digger" subculture saw artists like Madlib and DJ Shadow using samples from sources including instructional records and personal voice recordings; anything that they could dig out of the dusty crates at secondhand record stores around the world.
While beats had always been formed around the core of a vintage sample, as technology improved home sequencing software allowed more people to create their own beats and drumloops from synthesized sounds. In the modern era, hip hop has becoming increasingly influenced by electronica, and many of today's hottest artists like BoB, the Black Eyed Peas and Kanye West have heavily synthesized and produced beats. Electro beats drive recent hits like "Stronger" and "Imma Be".
Although the sound of hip hop has evolved over the years, one thing that hasn't changed is the do-it-yourself style of production and making beats. Legend says that the vinyl scratch was created by accident in the bedroom of Grand Wizzard Theodore, and many of today's hottest sounds come from the minds of amateurs. Beat making software is now cheap and widely available to anyone. The quality is so high that it can be difficult to tell the difference between a recorded sample and a synthesized track. Even beats that sound like classic vintage samples might actually be brand new creations.
Hip hop has always drawn its vibrancy from the grass roots producers and rappers that remix, retool and revolutionize the work of those that came before them. The next huge producer might well be sitting in front of his or her computer experimenting as you read this.

Hip hop has been around for quite a few years now, but it is modern hip hop that has really opened the doors for lots of new music producers to get on board and create some great new exciting sounds. Being a hip hop producer is correlated to creating the beats of the track itself. The art form of creating a hip hop beat is what the music producers are most celebrated for. Today, they use live instrumentals, music samples, sequencers, drum machines, turn tables, live vocals, and synthesizers. If you can think of it, you can use it.
Some drum beats are downloaded, and others can be created by drum beat makers. This depends on how confident you are when you are creating your unique music. Getting Started In The Music Production Industry - Tips On Top Music Software and More

It doesn't matter if you are musically challenged, have no musical background or just don't know where to start. I will cover everything you need to know about about getting started in the music production industry. I constantly see questions like "Anyone Know Where I Can Make Beats Online Or On MY Own Personal Computer?". So I have decided to help you all out. Here are the 5 key elements to getting started with making beats on your PC.
1. Picking Your Genre
This will probably be quite obvious to yourself already. Do you want to produce Hip Hip, Rap, Dubstep, Electro House, Classical, Jazz or Trance? These are only a few of the musical styles that are out there, but with the information I am providing you, you will be able to interpret the information and software I have reviewed so that it will work for your genre. Music making software and music theory are the basis for all music production no matter what genre you want to work with. I myself produce Dubstep, but all of the music programs that are available today will allow you to produce any genre you like because they are all very versatile.
2. Music Production (Beat Making Software)
Now that you have decided on what genre you will be producing tracks in, it's time to start looking for some appropriate software. Now this is where you don't want to make a mistake. The most popular software as it stands today is Dubturbo 2.0, Sonic Producer, Reason 5, FL Studio 10, Cubase 6 and Logic Studio. All of these programs are very similar and have much of the same features so when deciding on a beat maker keep that in mind and don't be fooled into thinking that you are paying for extra features when there is a similar package for half the price or less.
Now it is always a hard choice when choosing the software that will be right for you, especially when you have just come from "How can I make Dubstep?" or "How can I make my own Hip Hop and Rap Beats?" It's all very confusing at first and that is why I am writing this article. I have tested most of the beat production software and I can tell you now that when it comes to value for money you cannot go past Sonic Producer and Dubturbo 2.0. These programs are feature rich and allow you to make a beat in half the time the others do. Don't waste the money and test all of them like I did, it's really not worth it. I know what's it's like, I was once in your position too.
Again the KEY thing to look out for when look online for beat making software is DON'T BE FOOLED BY PRICE. Almost all of the paid software contains the same features but they just go about laying it out in a different way in their interface. Don't think you aren't going to get enough features in a cheap music production package, because it is more than likely that you will get what you need! The biggest mistakes most people make are buying overpriced software packages that are too complicated and don't deliver much more than their more affordable competitors.
If you are getting started in music production you aren't going to go and rent a building and turn it into your own studio are you? No, because of the simple fact that there is no need to do that. I see a lot of big club bangers coming from bedroom producers, and this is because of the way the music production software world has evolved. So much more is now possible with software, and hardware is becoming slowly obsolete. Hardware will never be completely abolished because there are a lot of producers that like the old-school way of doing things but it is happening, software is taking over. This is because everything hardware can do, software can do just as efficiently and at a fraction of the price.
3. Music Theory
Once you have chosen a beat making system for producing you music, I suggest you brush up on your music theory. This is NOT necessary but I highly recommend it as it will make your life much easier by reducing confusion. Music Theory will assist you with the application of the ideas in your head. Once you have a bit of musical knowledge you will find that you are able to get your little melody ideas straight down into your home studio application.
Piano courses are a great way to increase your musical theory knowledge. The saying "If you can play the piano, you play anything." loosely applies to music production as well due to the fact that the reason behind that saying is that piano teaches in-depth musical theory knowledge that can be easily translated onto many other instruments and platforms.
4. Marketing your music
This may be an optional step for you as you may not want to turn this hobby into a full time profession like I do. Marketing my own music was a real struggle for me. I searched around the internet for months trying to find good information about how I could sell my music and start to monetize my passion. Finally I found a guide that took me to the success state that I am at today, making a living from my music.
The Music Marketing Manifesto series allowed me to monetize my music in ways that I had never even thought of. Things to look for in a paid guide like this are videos, informative written guides and helpful diagrams. You will want to pick up a guide that is backed by music industry professionals so you know that they have also taken their beats from their beat maker and into the market place successfully. The best way to go about music marketing is finding a marketplace that will be right for you.
You have sites like Beatport which will be hard for an independent artist to get on in the first place but then you also have sites such as Bandcamp and Juno that are completely open to independents. So I would suggest signing up for those two sites and seeing what they have to offer because I mean you can never go wrong with a free service right?
Talking about free services, if you aren't already uploading your finished tracks to Soundcloud and Youtube, GET ONTO IT! This places are prime for web presence in the music world and trust me you will get exposure from both of them. Another thing to consider, that links in with Soundcloud and YouTube is to be active on forums that are specific to your genre and music production. This way you will be able to show other like minded users your music and you will already be TARGETING a specific audience that will more than likely take a liking to your tunes..
5. Perseverance
This is the key ingredient to success in everything. If you persevere with Music Production, you will make it! There is no doubt in my mind that I could guide someone with no musical ability to self-train themselves into becoming a top notch producer, if they wanted it bad enough.
I hope this information was helpful and good luck getting started in my world!

Music Producer Pro Review

This "Music Producer Pro" review is going to give you an unbiased and clear view of the informational product created by Jay Dynasty. The question of the day is: Will the Music Producer Pro lessons live up to its hype or is it just another useless product?
Before we go further, these music production lessons are unlike any other self-learning courses available on the internet today. It's very clear that once you open it, it doesn't briefly go over things you already know or gives you a few good teasers and then disappoints you. I personally don't like to waste my time and hard earned money reading things that I could have just researched myself on the net.
So what exactly is the main purpose of these informational products? Learning techniques, secrets and some time saving tips are just some that come to the top of my head. There are a huge assortment of ebooks and self learning courses out there that tell us the same thing. Most are basically carbon copies of each other. Aren't you tired of that? I don't know about you, but I sure am.
Let's get back on topic - the answer of the very first question: Is Music Producer Pro a product worth paying for? Is it full of useful secrets? Is it revolutionary? Will it help you be successful? Is it everything you need to start your career or pursue your hobby?
Well, if we are referring to secret techniques - it's both a yes and a no. These lessons don't just show you some techniques that you have never seen before, it presents them with a twist. It's a new perspective - how to approach things in a different light. What you can literally guarantee is that you will be encouraged to put these under-used and well known techniques to use. So in a way, yes it's revolutionary.
Inside you will find some great techniques that you were probably unaware of. That's not surprising, considering Jay Dynasty has over 23 years experience in this field. The guides are super easy to follow and the video lessons are priceless.
The online lessons consist of powerful step by step studio lessons, 14 video lessons, a large collection of video / audio lessons and over 1000 documented resources. The author is well established and this package brings his vast experience to you in the comfort of your own home. Believe me - he knows his stuff.

You first option is desktop beat making software and if you have done a search prior to arriving here you might have seen a few of the software products. You have Reason, Cubase, and CoolEditPro to name a few.
These programs allow you to do pretty much anything you want to while producing your music, and the sound quality that you get is amazing.
The only downside with these programs is that you will need to know a lot about the technical side of music production or you may have a tough time getting them to produce anything of quality.
When you are starting out as well it can be a little bit mind blowing to see all the features and options, and besides the price tag for these software packages is quite high.

Of course later on when you have learnt a bit about how it all works you can get more technical and it has a series of videos that go into depth about how to make complex rap and hip hop music.

A Quest for a First-Rate Online Beat Maker

Finding an online beat maker or beat making software that's a cinch enough for a newbie to pick up and robust enough for the skillful producer to enjoy can be a tedious job these days. The internet has become bloated with many software products and it can be confusing to know what direction to take. But I trust I've found a gem in DUBturbo 2.0.
As a music addict, I've been fascinated by the burst of new music on the internet. Music isn't just emanating from large studios anymore. It comes from people's homes, bedrooms, and basements. So I decided to research the industry's best devices being used. There are a lot of free music making tools on the market, but they can be lacking on features such as sample selection and file output quality. A lot of the top digital audio workstations (DAW) can be a bit overwhelming for those starting out and can have a steep learning curve. However, DUBturbo seems to rise above the competition with superior quality at a very low cost to the customer.
DUBturbo's elements are very much in line with many of the top DAW's available today. For example, the professional layout of the 16-track sequencer means experienced producers should feel at home to jump right in and get recording. Beginners will like its clean interface, with easy to follow video tutorials. Shortcuts for the computer keyboard allow for fast recording. The software also comes with a huge library of samples (1,000's), ready to use. And I really like having the ability to edit bars with a simple drag and copy function, be it from the samples or your own recording.
The drum machine panel is intuitive and also has flexible editing capabilities. Each kit has 10 pads, with over 40 kits to choose. Switching between instruments is fast with no time delay. The sampling keyboard, which works with your computer keyboard, comes with four full octaves. So no midi controllers are needed. Plus, the DUBturbo system uses '.WAV' file format when exporting music; no low quality MP3's. This feature is a must for any serious producer. With the ability to burn tracks to CD, the sound quality remains high and crystal clear. Whether you're in the music business or not, this DAW will benefit all with its ease of use and powerful features. Additionally, where other beat makers can set you back hundreds of dollars, DUBturbo gives great value for money with a price under $50.
DUBturbo is a complete beat maker that won't break the bank. With top-notch tutorials, professional interfaces and superb sounds, you can't go wrong. To learn more about how DUBturbo can help you create your own unique masterpiece fast, go to http://www.beatmakerreview.net.

Producers Vs Beat Makers: Is There A Difference?

People often use the terms " beat maker" and "producer" interchangeably, however there are distinct differences between the two. To better understand these differences, one would have to first define what a beat maker is versus a producer.
Beat Maker
This individuals primary responsibility is the music composition of a song. They create the instrumentals and beats to set the tone for an artist's lyrics. Beat makers can produce a variety of beats ranging from pop & hip hop to rock and country. Experts in this area sometimes become composers.
Producer
A producer can make beats however it is not absolutely necessary. A producer's responsibility is to oversee the studio session to ensure that the completed, final production is executed properly.
A producer's duties may include the following:
Making the instrumentals or beats
Songwriting
Leading the recording session
Vocal Production
Vocal and Instrumental Arrangement
Audio Engineering
Mastering of the Final Session
A producer may or may not do all of the aforementioned tasks, but the end result or master recording of a song is deemed the producer's responsibility.
Executive Producer
A producer that oversees an entire album is called the executive producer. He/she is responsible for supervising many of the business aspects of putting an album together. This includes but is not limited to: making sure producer checks have cleared, ensuring split sheets are prepared, choosing the final songs on an artist's album, etc.
Based off of the definitions above, it is easy to see the differences between beat makers and producers. A beat maker's main responsibility is to compose the instrumentals and beats for a song while a producer is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of song creation are taken care of.
Determining Your Needs
A common mistake among upcoming recording artists, rappers, singers, and musicians is to request a producer when he/she may actually only need a beat maker. The opposite is true as well. An artist may say "I need beats" when actually he/she needs a producer. The simplest way for a recording artist to determine whether or not he/she needs a beat maker or producer is to identify his/her goals.
Questions an artist should ask are:
Am I working on an album?
or
Am I working on a mixtape?
What music services can I afford?
What do I plan to do with the music?
Asking these types of questions can be extremely helpful in determining an artist's recording needs.
Financing The Project
It is critical to know the difference between a beat maker and producer when it comes to financing an album or mixtape. Why? It could cost more to get music production services from a producer. This is because a producer can provide a wider range of services to the potential client. Recording artists should carefully consider their choices when it comes to their production budgets and financing their projects.
Concluding, knowing the difference between beat makers and producers is vital to a recording artist's career. Artists should understand that beat makers are responsible for solely providing the musical composition of a song while a producer may provide those services and more.

DJ Hip Hop Beat Making Software

One thing is for sure - if you're looking for music software, then you've got quite a task ahead of you.
There is an amazing (I mean AMAZING) quantity of different producers of software out there. To narrow your search down, you need to think a little carefully about what exactly you want to create. And what do you want to do with it afterward?
I know about creating hip hop beats and highly orchestrate mixes - so let's talk about that.
Bearing in mind that I know what's out there, I know that you've probably had your fill of cheap, clicky drum samples lo-fi, tacky music software in the past. It can be a real tough challenge finding decent hip hop drum samples. Drums create the backbone rhythm to the entire track, so using the correct drum sounds is very, very important. Before you look at music software, think carefully about what you want to do. For example, do you need to be able to Work with synthesized sounds? Do you want to use loops? Make DJ hip hop mixes or mash-ups? Do you want them for live performances? MP3?
If so, then you won't go for anything less - you'll want nothing but hand-crafted hip hop drum samples which have been optimized with absolute state of-the-art studio hardware equipment, valve compression
and the finest equalizers. So that even a 'tuned ear' won't be able to tell the difference. Therefore Lite or budget version software is just not going to be for you. I wouldn't even try them - because you will get exactly what you pay for. Don't scrimp now and lose out later.
But that doesn't mean that creating your own beats has to be expensive. There are some very highly professional beat creating and mix making software suites out there, if want high-profile, enhanced drum sounds that pack a serious punch. If you want Charismatic Cymbals, Ultra-Crisp Open Hi Hats, Shakers & Tambourines, XXL Chunky Kicks, Phat Snares and optimized, individually mastered and maximized big, bad, hip hop drums specifically designed for maximum impact and presence in your mix, then with your own software you can still have them professionally made without paying for them each time over and over again. Investing in a quality music software can actually save you a lot of money in the long - and allow you to be a lot more creative and unique for a long time to come.
Many very popular beats and loops that you'll already know were simply made by underground guys in their own homes. And if you're using the right beat making software, then that's not as unrealistic as it sounds. And you will discover that for yourself.

Ways to Make Your Software Rap Beats Sound Better

One of the big issues a lot of people are having with their music production software is the sound quality. A lot of these guys are used to using hardware drum machines and keyboard workstations such as the motif or korg triton. Once they switch to software they often complain that it doesn't sound as fat or warm. This assumption is actually partially true. Software often doesn't sound quite as good as hardware. But their is a reason why. Its because most hardware workstations have their sounds already edited and processed so they sound good right out of the box. They are basically designed to be turned on be ready to play. With software this same sound can be achieved it just takes a little more work. Here are 5 to get a better sound out of your software:
1. Layering
What is layering? All layering means is to take several instruments and have them playing at the same time. This will help make your sounds fatter. It also can be used to create stabs and what not if your making hip hop style beats. You can do this really easily in most software sequencers. Propellerhead reason has a device called the combinator that makes combining instruments a breeze.
2. Compression.
When used right a little compression can do wonders for your overall sound. I remember once when using a triton and flipping through the effects settings I discover that it had compression on the main channel!!What that means is that the entire beat was being compressed as opposed to just an instrument at a time. No wonder it sounded so good lol. This same effect can effectively used in software you just have to be careful not to over do it.
3. Picking Good Drum Sounds.
Lets face it. . . . while their are a lot of good free drum sounds out there. most of the time you get what you paid for. if your making hip hop good drum sounds are extremely important. drum and bass are like the foundation of your beat and we all know what happens when you have a weak foundation right? lol.
4. Arrangement And Sound Choice
I think I read somewhere once that the definition of music is basically organized sound. While I don't remember if that's exactly what it is I agree with this. A lot of producers can have great sounds but still not be able to make anything out of it. Then they will try to blame their own shortcomings on the software when in reality it was them. Software music production just like anything is a skill that can be learned. It just takes practice. I have seen guys make great music with so so sounds. Its all in how you put them together.
5. Proper Use Of Effects.
While you shouldn't totally depend on effects such as reverb, delay, and chorus. When used properly they can do wonders for your sound. Ever wonder why a lot of keyboard workstations sounds so good? Because they have effects on them. You can get your software to sound like that also you just gotta use them in the right amounts. Think of effects like spice on food too much can ruin the taste but just the right amount can give it that extra kick it needed.
If you use these tips correctly and practice all of them they will help you to get the sound out of software you always wanted.
