Looking For The Perfect Beat (Rappers/Emcees)

Anyone looking to become a popular performing artist whether it be singer, or rapper needs to have good music period. Along with skills or a "look" that is commercial, good music or that one hit single will take you a long way. The entertainment business is all about staying power, that's what you're going to be remembered for and that's going to capture the attention of the people. Now with that said, your music still needs to be true to who you are. So whether you're the grimey east coast rapper (50 cent), underground rapper (Lupe) or the dirty south rapper (T.I.) you can be a popular face in the industry.
Now to get to the point of this article, how to pick the right beats. Well of course you already know what category of rapper you fit into so, you'll know what beats to go for BUT where and who do you go to to get beats? Well there's the obvious Soundclick.com, RocBattle.com, and just type the words (#beats, #beatz, #instrumentals) into Twitter and you'll instantly be swamped with beats and instrumentals from various producers. Now, I am not a rapper nor music artist (I'm actually a music producer) but I couldn't imagine how flooded your inboxes and streams get with the "get the hottest beats here" or "check out my latest beats!, check out my latest beats!," The same tired-ass approach, I'd like you to tell me how you choose your beats! What you should be looking for are producers who understand what's hot now, who don't just sell/work with anybody, and most of all understand YOU! My thoughts are, anyone who is serious about their career is going to want to and inevitably need to stand out from everyone else. There are seventy thousand trillion rappers out there doing what you're doing! How are you going to separate yourself from the crowd?
Find credible producers, who not only make fire but understand what you want out of your career. Only if you are serious. Now if rapping is a hobby for you and you're not serious (which is perfectly OK) then by all means don't spend your paycheck on "expensive" beats or producers. I mean you're not serious about it so don't waste your money or anyone elses time. This is strictly for those who want to make a living as a performing artist, how could you expect a label to invest (put money into) you when you don't invest in yourself? It won't happen, point blank. I suggest you work with producers who take time to perfect their craft, and maybe have a following. Those things can only help you and in return you are helping the producer. Don't forget that! We need artists just as much as artists need us! We make you great music, and you go and perfect & perform it for us. Otherwise we would do it ourselves ! Think about it....it's food for thought. How serious are you? Are you serious enough to invest in your craft or is it just a hobby? Thank you for reading and visit my official website linked below for more information.
