I'm not going to waste your time with a long intro, because I know exactly why you're here. You're a producer who has been making hot beats ever since you were young and you want to be able to sell those beats online without having to sell your soul to a record deal. This article was written to help you in your quest. I'll call this operation Sell Beats Soundclick.
First of all, a lot of people online like to talk about how to sell beats, but... None of them are actually selling beats. So before I even say another word, I'm going to let you know that I already make $1,000's every month (still). I'm literally living off beats. My production name is Beats4Legends, you can find me on Soundclick, MySpace and everywhere else... Just Google me and you'll find a lot of information about me.
Isn't it funny just how many "producers" talk about how to sell beats online and yet it seems that NONE of them want to give their production company's name? It's because they don't have a real production company!
Anyway, enough of that. Here's some tips...
1. Collaborate with artists on Soundclick. This is how I came up and it's how plenty of producers online have done well. Just contact other producers who are already high in the charts on Soundclick and simply ask them if they'd be down to collaborate. Once the beat is done, have them link back to your site (nice producers will even take the download option off THEIR site and link to YOUR site so people go there to download it).
2. Ask to join other production teams. If your music is TRULY amazing, then you shouldn't have any trouble finding somebody to let you on board. Usually producers ask for 20% of your profit and in exchange they promote you. The risk is that you don't know if they're giving you all of your sales or not!
3. Promote in the Soundclick forums. The most effective way to do this is to put your link in your tag and then go to the RAPPER section and give feedback to all the starving rappers. Everybody on the SC forums needs/wants feedback for their rap songs. Give them honest feedback and tell them they can use your beats.
4. Get a mixtape together with a bunch of the hottest Soundclick rappers, and make sure that ALL of the beats on the mixtape are yours. Then, promote that mixtape and sell it/give it away for free!
5. Use social networking sites to get your site up!
6. Make a beat CD (10-20 beats) and sell Leasing Rights to the whole CD for just $30-$50. This can easily be your #1 hit seller and it's MUCH easier to convince a rapper to buy a whole CD than a single beat.
