Why You Should Pay for Underground Beats

A lot of people online and offline asks me "Why should I pay for underground beats? I can download free beats anywhere". First of all, I could answer to this question with another question, are you serious about your music?
Make a hit and lose it
Let's say that you have downloaded a random beat online, you make a great song to it which gets popular in your area. Then, maybe you would want to release the song on iTunes or other places to sell it to a wider audience and make some extra cash.
You downloaded the hiphop beat a long time ago and somehow find the place you downloaded it from and notice that the beat is no longer there, it has been sold. What can you do now? Nothing. The beat has been sold exclusively and you cannot buy it anymore whatsoever. It means that you just have to forget about the song you did to it which could have been a hit. Just because you didn't buy a lease or anything to the beat when you heard it. If you do start selling the song on iTunes or anywhere without a lease or any license, you will most likely face a criminal punishment, you don't want that do you? You might have your computer full of these kind of "free beats" and the same thing happens, again and again.
Pay $20 make over $1000 profit
Most of the producers out there sell leases to hiphop beats for $20-40, is it that bad? Let's think this through. Most of these producers online have worked with major artists worldwide and you can buy a beat from them. That means that you already have a successful producer behind your song to make sure that your vocals shine on it, just grab the mic.
Let's say you buy a lease to one beat and pay in example $20 for it. Leases always contains at least 1,000 distribution limit if not 5,000. That means that you can sell your song 1,000 times and you get all the money. Usually one song online costs a dollar so you just have to sell 20 copies of the song to get your money back. That's just your family and that's it. Is it getting a bit clearer now? Basically, if you know how to advertise your music and sell it, you can reach hundreds of sales really quickly and make a huge profit. You don't need many songs to get known, you need just that one which stands out. If you do this correctly, you would just need to invest that $20 to reach a great exposure and profit.
The same thing goes for Exclusives. If you buy a beat exclusively and pay a bit more, let's say $400. You get the beat totally to yourself and no one will ever get the same beat anymore, you "own" it. But that's not the best thing. When you have exclusives rights to the beat you can sell unlimited copies of the song. There is basically no limit how much money you can make with it. Think about it, pay $400, get the beat totally to yourself and sell it 100,000 copies. Can you even count how many times you just got your money back from the original $400 you paid?
Sound quality sucks, you suck
Another thing is that if you download just random beats online, do they contain vocal tags? Do you get just 128kbps low quality MP3 file of the beat? Usually, the answer is yes. This is not a good thing for an artist or anyone. If you could even get untagged beats so no one is giving away high quality WAV files for free which are always needed when working on music. At least when you want to get high quality music done with good and clear mixes. And you do want high quality, because if the sound quality sucks, people most likely won't take you so seriously.
Invest in good beats that you know you will use and concentrate making those songs great. Nowadays I hear too many artists rushing on things and not finishing songs properly. Many artists just want to release as many songs as possible even though the songs wouldn't be great. That's not good. YOU WILL MAKE BETTER FIRST IMPRESSION WITH ONE GREAT SONG THAN 10 AVERAGE SONGS.
So go ahead, pay for the underground beats you like and help the producers and in the same time help yourself.
