Battling Beats on RocBattle

RocBattle is an interesting place. Certain people have had great success selling on it. There is one individual in particular RaCharm who is the top selling producers this month sells beats for 25 dollars a pop. He has been selling a little fewer than 100 beats a month right now. You can do the math, this is great money. There are a variety of other producers who are finding similar success although not to such a great degree. Most producers sell beats for 20 dollars some even sell their beats for as low as 10 dollars. A producer typically will use RocBattle to supplement their income and is usually one of the different outlets they use to exploit their beats. Most people don't find great success, I figure if you sell 5 beats a month for 20 dollars than you are doing something right and it is probably worth the 6 dollar monthly membership.
The big question is how do you separate yourself from the thousands of other producers on the website? The most obvious way is to battle, this is what the website is all about. If you are one of the top 10 producers of the month you get visibility on the front page. To be one of the top 10 producers you have to have a good battle record. In order to do this you have to battle. A lot. If you win a battle you get twice as many points than if you lose a battle, this obviously lends itself to people who spend the time to battle as many times as possible. To battle you have to have 5 credits for each battle that you participate. To get a credit you have to vote on somebody else's battle. The problem with this is that people try to expedite the voting process and end up either listen to only the first 3 seconds of the beat or not listening at all.
Furthermore, and this is the main problem with the website; you can't battle successfully without immersing yourself in the politics and BS on the website. Everybody has created little alliances with one another to get as many votes as possible and remain on top. As they expedite their voting process people will automatically vote for other producers who they have established alliances with. This makes it almost impossible to win even if your beat is obviously the better beat.
This is the problem that I have had with the website. I end up investing hours of my life trying to get enough credits to battle my beats and then get voted against by people who obviously haven't listened to the music. I know this because the people will give everybody the same score, for example 8/10, and give their vote to the other producer every time. So what can you do?
The rewards can be very great but in order to get there you have to do a lot politicking and there is no guarantee that your efforts will be rewarded.
You can listen to Jacob Poore's rap beats at http://www.GimmeThatTrack.com.
